The Emil Brandqvist Trio ranks among the absolute best in European piano jazz. Their latest album reached number 2 on the German jazz charts and in 2024 they received a special award for an impressive 50 million streams – an extraordinary achievement in instrumental jazz. Now the three Scandinavian virtuosos are on tour with their new album “Poems for Travellers.” For the first time, they are doing without guest artists entirely and focusing consistently on their unique mix of melodic clarity and complex arrangements, which is highly appreciated by fans. Each band member contributes to the composition, giving the sound even greater depth. The opener “A Visit To Reality” makes it clear that the trio is at the center here – with energetic solos and perfect interplay. Emil Brandqvist's subtle melodies, for example in the moving ballad “Endless Like The Sea,” merge with the virtuoso piano runs of Tuomas A. Turunen, who contributes two outstanding compositions with “Shades Of Leaving” and “Run Away.” Max Thornberg's warm double bass finally brings the album to an emotional close with “Evening Land.” The audience can expect an atmospheric concert experience full of emotion and sonic finesse – sometimes dreamy, sometimes pulsating, always captivating. Starting in February, the trio will be on a major tour through Norway, Sweden, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
